The use of casing well patch technology is becoming increasingly important for oil and gas operators. This is due to the need to optimize hydrocarbon production and manage reservoirs more effectively. This technology helps to isolate unwanted perforations in production and injection wells, which can improve the efficiency of operations and allow for better management of the resources. A reliable and cost-effective technology, this technology is becoming more and more accepted in the oil and gas industry, legitimizing its use.
A well patch is now necessary to maintain well integrity:
- to prevent fluid/gas leakage,
- blowouts,
- lengthen the well’s life, and
- preserve production rates.
Restoring casing integrity
Damaged casing or perforations are covered with a patch using a downhole inner-lining seal system. This patch not only gives a pressure-resistant inner barrier, but also allows for the largest Inside Diameter access for further well intervention.
Saltel Xpandable Patch does not limit the access to the wellbore beneath. it limits the ID reduction; Saltel patch is more effective than current solutions, even after many cement squeezes have failed.
Using patches as a back-up can resolve failed cementing processes. Placing them over a squeeze cementing or gel can repair casing leaks and ensure the integrity from both within and outside the casing.
Saltel Industries created a stainless steel patch to withstand high internal pressure differentials. Intended for sealing perforations, it can now repair short sections of corroded or broken completion and modules. We have installed several hundred patches worldwide.
Casing Patch Principle

Saltel Xpandable Patch is an expandable steel remedy for oil/gas wells’ security. Casing leaks and flawed completion problems require oilfield solutions that can endure tough conditions while restoring/enhancing oil/gas production. This technology successfully resolves all these oilfield underground difficulties.
Saltel Patch is a cost-efficient way to enhance well production or prevent plug and abandonment operations. A major benefit of the expandable steel Patch is that it provides the requested internal diameter and maximum internal diameter post-installation, allowing full access to the well beneath, which is verified by our job planner software prior to the installation.
Saltel Patch is a permanent fix for broken tubing or casing, closing off perforations, altering injection profiles, and halting water and gas flow. It also improves water cuts, keeps oil wells operating economically, seals leaking DV tools, frac ports, sand screens, and ICDs, and is usable in high-temperature, extreme conditions for damaged casings, liners, and screens in SAGD and CSS applications.
Setting Procedure
In addition to stainless steel and elastomer, the Saltel Casing Patch has a specialized seal. The hydraulic pressure compresses i.e energizes the elastomer skin against the casing.
Depending on the conveyance and time span for the intervention, the patch installation can be classified under light or middle workover services. The deployment is possible with smart coil tubing, drill pipe, or tubing. The patch expands with a high-pressure inflatable packer and seals against the casing. It is available in multiple thicknesses based on the application. After installation, no further tools are needed.
