Challenge

Horizontal completions are becoming more extended and more sophisticated, often through different formations. Openhole lower completions or recompletions are now used with many types of slotted pipe or sand screens, or sophisticated inflow control devices (ICD).

Solution

Saltel Industries Expandable Steel Packers such as AZIP product range are used to split long length of the annulus into shorter sections to improve flow control and prevent sand migration. The steel packer is set with a wash pipe or a straddle tool.

The Xpandable steel packer provides effective seal even in oval, out of gauge, or irregular boreholes, while applying minimum stress to the formation.
