Close off existing perforations
Modifying the injection or production profile.
How modifying injection profile (perforations shutoff) can lead to significant improvements in production rates.
Many conventional wells are completed and perforated, in both production and injection wells. During the life of the well, the required profile is likely to change as fluid levels vary.
Production enhancement techniques help modify the downhole parameters. (Should it be the injection profile or the production profile). It may become necessary to close off existing perforations, re-perforate in different zones, or modify injection profiles.
As oil assets and fields are aging with time, enhancing production by modifying the injection profile will be necessary to increase production from complex oil reservoirs. Oil and gas operators are testing numerous techniques and products until the industry fully adopts them as a common practice.
Waterflooding in the early life of the field is one of these techniques, aiming to maximize cumulative oil production. However, channeling between injectors and producers occurs frequently. Channeling issues can lead to excessive water production and bypassed oil left in the reservoir.
modifying injection profile
Sealing unwanted perforations can eliminate unwanted and expensive water production. It is obviously an optimization of the existing Enhanced Oil Recovery techniques. This optimization reduces unwanted production and avoids cross-flow (communication between 2 reservoirs).

Casing patch for modifying injection profile
Saltel Xpandable steel Patch technology can be used to convert a producing well into an injector (or vice-versa). As explained above, you can isolate an existing set of perforations (perforations shutoff). Perforating in front of a new pay zone might improve production rates. Saltel Patch enables:
- Restoring casing integrity, holding internal differentials 15,000 psi
- Quick, efficient, and reliable isolation
- Large ID. Leaves access for running tools or drilling ahead
- Repairs completion modules (ICDs, sand screens, frac ports)
- reliable sealing properties
